Rent Your Truckee Home to a Trusted Local Employee

Introducing an innovative new partnership and grant program, funded by Town of Truckee, in partnership with Landing Locals, which offers qualifying Truckee property owners up to $10k when they rent their homes long-term to local employees.

How it Works

Truckee property owners can earn up to a $10,000 grant for renting a room or properties for a minimum of 3 months.
To qualify a homeowner must rent to a local employee whose household averages up to 150% of the area median income.
As part of the program, Landing Locals will provide property owners free tenant screening and matching services.

Any residential property in Truckee that is currently sitting empty or rented short-term qualifies. If you are already renting your property long-term it does not qualify for the grant.
At least 50% of the adults over 18 in the household (related or unrelated) must work at least 20 hours per week, for an employer located in the geographic boundaries of the Truckee Tahoe Unified School District (TTUSD).

Households must not make over 150% of the area median income. For related or unrelated adults over 18, you can take the average of your household income, which cannot exceed $97,050 per year. One child or multiple children count towards an additional household member.


2 locally employed unrelated adults making $60k/each = Qualified

1 locally employed adult with 1 child making $120k/year = Qualified 

1 locally employed adult making $150k/year = Not qualified

The Town of Truckee has a goal of funding innovative programs that unlock existing housing stock for local employees. This program is funded by taxpayer dollars through the general fund.

The grant is dispersed to qualifying homeowners in two installments by the Town of Truckee. One  payment is dispersed upon lease signing, and one payment is dispersed at the when the lease has ended.
